Description

Property 10763 – Venice

3 Bedrooms – Terrace

Location and Surrounding Area. Property 10763 is in a gorgeous, 17th century, Venetian palazzo right on the Grand Canal with its structural origins dating back to the 12th century. The property is located in the Serenissima area at the very centre of all the action in this magical city. Venice is famous for its epic grandeur and a visitor can spend weeks exploring the picturesque canals, gondolas, art, historical palazzi and narrow backstreets and still come away with a sense of not having seen everything there is to see. The oldest church in Venice, the magnificent Basilica Santa Maria Gloriosa Dei Frari, features a Titian altarpiece. Titian is interred here in the Frari, as locals call the Basilica and Donatello's first documented work in Venice, his sculpture of St. John the Baptist is found in the first south choir chapel.

Not to be missed is the delightful Campo San Barnaba, which has featured in several films including David Lean's 1955 Summertime starring Katherine Hepburn and that old classic, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Even for non-film buffs, the lively piazza is a joy to behold and is flanked on one side by the canal. This achingly hip area of Venice is host to an abundance of picturesque canals and buildings and the nearby University of Venice Ca' Foscari ensures that a thriving student population keeps the local bars and night life swinging.

There are 118 different islands scattered across the Venetian Lagoon so why not take a private boat and spend a day or two exploring them? Burano Island features picture-postcard, colourful houses, speciality lace and stunning, Byzantine mosaics in the 1st century Santa Maria Assunta cathedral. Or you could visit the famous Murano island with its hand-blown glass objects d'art. Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote in the northern area of the Lagoon and you can still find traces of his inspiration in the migrating birds that circle over the water.

Property 10763 is less than half an hour from Venice international airport in a water taxi and only a couple of minutes on foot from the glamour of St. Mark's Square. It is a 5 minute walk from La Fenice theatre and right opposite the Punta della Dogana art museum and the Santa Maria della Salute cathedral. The Rialto bridge is a ten minute walk away and Murano Island is only 4 km across the water in a vaporetto.

The Property. Property 10763 is on the third floor of this glorious palazzo, which has been with the same family for almost 200 years and is fitted with a lift for your ease and comfort. The original, 12th century structure was crenellated and had two square towers. It was remodelled in the 17th century by the Venetian architect Bartolomeo Manopola and then redecorated by the artist Giuseppe Borsato in the early 19th century. Borsato was, among other works, famous for his artistic marvels at the nearby La Fenice theatre.

Property 10763 sleeps up to five guests in two, sumptuous, double bedrooms and a cozy single bedroom. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom and the other double/twin and single bedrooms share a large bathroom. The beds are extra-large size and the bedding is of the highest quality; Simmons mattresses (as used by the Four Seasons hotel), Italian linen sheets and both feather and non-allergenic pillows. The bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers, fluffy towels and a complete set of luxurious toiletries. There is also a spacious loft area, which features a shower room and a comfortable living space with poufs, ideal for curling up with a good book. This loft space has access out onto the terrace.

The living room is light and airy with plenty of space for everyone. The dining room features an antique cabinet that has been in the palazzo private furniture collection for years. On a more contemporary note, the apartment offers a large, flat screen, satellite TV and a Bose Sound touch 10, wireless, Bluetooth speaker. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need if you feel like trying your hand at recreating local delicacies. And if all this isn't enough, you'll even have access to the delightful rooftop terrace.
