Description

Property 1651263697 - Porto Ercole - Tuscany Coast

6 Bedrooms - Pool

Location and Surrounding Area. Property 1651263697 is a private and very peaceful property on a hillside, which catches the fresh sea breezes and overlooks the sea on the exclusive Argentario promontory. It would make an ideal destination for a large family or group of friends wishing to enjoy golf and immerse themselves in the outstanding beauty of the area. This area of coastal Tuscany has been an elite destination for years and the backdrop of open spaces and olive groves set against the azure waters of the Mediterranean has a calming effect on both body and soul. If you're really lucky, you'll get to see some of the indigenous wild horses galloping along the beach at sunset. The Maremma is also famous for its butteri, Tuscan cowboys who, until recently, drove the Maremma cattle on horseback. They do, however, still saddle up and ride for festivals and special occasions.

Pretty Porto Ercole was once upon a time a fishing village and you'll still see the old fishermen repairing their nets on the seafront. There are plenty of bars and restaurants plus you can wander up through the alleyways and steps of the old town to the so-called “Spanish Rock”. Porto Ercole also lays claim to being the final resting place of the renown baroque artist Caravaggio, who is reputed to have died nearby. His remains were originally buried in the San Sebastiano cemetery and then transferred to the nearby St. Erasmus church when the San Sebastiano cemetery closed in 1956.

The Monte Argentario area is surrounded by splendid beaches, enchanting sandy coves and flat rocks, which are perfect for sand-free sunbathing and snorkelling. Cala Piccola is one such delightful little bay with pebbles and turquoise water. Some of the other beaches are accessible by car, some by foot and some only via boat. For example, there is the 7km long  natural stretch of La Feniglia sand dunes with fine sand leading down to the sea, the picturesque pebbly Cala del Gesso or the Pozzarello beach with easy its access from the road, bars and restaurants. The seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago Elba, Giglio, Capraia, Montecristo, Pianosa, Giannutri and Gorgona are within relatively easy reach from Porto Stefano and make for a delightful day out.

The Argentario golf course is in a beautiful area only five minutes away from the Nature Reserve of La Feniglia sand dunes and hosts some of the most important golf tournaments in Tuscany and Italy. It was designed by the architect David Mezzacane and the professional golfer Balsovino Dassù and opened in 2006. It has a panoramic 18-hole course, which is certified organic eco-compatible and all of the products used in maintaining the golf course are completely natural. In addition to the wonders of the course itself, the Argentario Golf Academy also boasts a staff of experienced professionals and a TrackMan Ille simulator for swing analysis.

Property 1651263697 is only 10 minutes from the Argentario golf course and the La Feniglia and Pozzarello beaches, 15 minutes from Santo Stefano, 20 minutes from Cala Piccola, 25 minutes from Cala del Gesso. The nearest international airports are Rome's Fiumicino at about an hour and a half away and Ciampino less than two hours.

The Property. This lovely villa hosts up to 12 guests in accommodation with elegant contemporary interiors designed to allow maximum light into the property whilst retaining plenty of shade for the summer. There are two double bedrooms, four twin rooms and six bathrooms complete with hairdryers. The bedrooms are all individually decorated with tasteful furnishings and wood-beamed ceilings.

The living accommodation is a joy to behold; an spacious sitting room with fireplace that continues on to a second sitting area that leads out onto the enormous furnished patio via sliding glass doors. The feeling is one of being at one with nature yet without the discomforts that adverse weather brings! The indoor dining room is much the same with the glass front out onto the garden. You can also choose to take your meals al fresco at the outdoor table and enjoy the views as you eat. The kitchen is of profession standard with stainless steel fittings and a cute table for cozy morning coffee. Once again, the kitchen has direct access out to gardens.

The large, panoramic swimming pool is complete with poolside decking and sun loungers. You can gaze out over the Mediterranean and beaches in the distance from the comfort of your lounger. The gardens are both immaculate and extensive with plenty of space for roaming around and just admiring the views.
