Description

Property 1557152189

Location and Surrounding Area

Immersed in the calm Etruscan countryside, this magnificent five-suite farmhouse is ideally located to explore the region’s cultural highlights and most spectacular natural wonders. With spectacular views of the surrounding area, this exclusive property is the perfect location for unforgettable day trips to the most beautiful towns in Latium and provides a unique opportunity to admire its splendid landscapes while soaking up the region’s incredibly rich historical and cultural heritage.

Vetralla itself is a charming town and has everything you might need in the way of shops and services. From a culinary point of view, the area around Vetralla is known for its porcini mushrooms so be sure to try a fully flavored risotto while you are here, preferably washed down with a glass of excellent local wine. The area is dotted with important vestiges of Etruscan civilization, including charming towns like Tarquinia, Vulci, Tuscania, Cerveteri and Viterbo.

Places that have to be visited include the Etruscan towns of Sutri and Nepi. The Roman amphitheater in Sutri dates back to the 1st century B.C. and once held more than 9000 spectators. The tombs carved into the rock are believed to contain the remains of important Etruscan rulers. Nepi is believed to have been founded more than 450 years before Rome. In addition to its churches and monuments, spend some time admiring the multiple medieval towers and the castle Rocca dei Borgia.

The nearby lakes Vico and Bracciano are of volcanic origin and their unique geological features render them an oasis for multiple aquatic plants, fish and birds. They both offer much in the way of beautiful walks, water sports and even pretty beaches for a refreshing swim during the summertime. These are the same uncontaminated, pastoral views that have long inspired artists such as the French landscape painter Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.

Tarquinia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Etruscan tombs. The ancient burial grounds date from the Iron Age through to Roman times and reveal fascinating insights into life in those times. Make sure you visit the main Monterozzi necropolis with its 6000 tombs, of which more than 200 feature stunning wall paintings. These paintings portray enormous banquets, sporting events, erotic scenes and various Etruscan myths.

Property 1557152189 is only 5 km from Vetralla, 14 km from Viterbo. Lake Vico is about 10 km from the property, Tarquini is less than 20 km and Lake Bracciano is about 30 km away. Sutri is only 15 km, Nepi is about 30 km and Rome's Fiumicino and Ciampino International Airports are about an hour's drive away. The nearest beach, Mirage Beach, is a 40 minute drive.

The Property

With an exceptional al fresco lounge and dining area, the outdoor space is an idyllic spot for enjoying wonderful moments of relaxation in the company of a good book.

Within the farm house, the furniture reflects the eclectic taste of the owner, combining design elements and objects from the 1950s with antique pieces like the fireplaces and several chests of drawers. Ample space is given to Persian carpets, an impeccably-tuned century-old piano and Mexican drums – while at the center stands a large dining table made from a fossilized millennial tree from New Zealand. The kitchen’s style is in contrast to the rest of the house: ultra-modern with cutting-edge equipment.

Flooded with light, the ground floor boasts a suite with direct access to the garden and sweeping views of the countryside. It has a private room decorated with modern and antique objects of design, a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower. On the same floor you will also find a suite with direct access to the garden. It also has a private room decorated with modern and antique objects of design, and has wheelchair access. It has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with barrier-free shower.

Offering an exquisite blend of period charm and modern comfort, the first floor houses the villa’s most important suite.
