Description

VILLA CINCIANO - POGGIBONSI

12 Bedrooms

Location and Surrounding Area
Property 1633097725 is nestled into an outstanding area of natural beauty yet within easy reach of the principal attractions in Chianti and is therefore ideal for a large group of people wishing to explore the exceptional countryside, art, food and wine in Tuscany. The nearest town, Poggibonsi, is only 3 km up the road and has everything you might need in the way of supermarkets, banks, chemist's and shopping centres.

You will find some excellent restaurants and trattorias in San Gimignano and Barberino d'Elsa. If you fancy trying your hand at preparing some Tuscan dishes with fresh, local produce, there are weekly farmer's markets in Poggibonsi, Siena, Certaldo, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano and Castellina in Chianti. Poggibonsi has a useful train station that connects direct trains with both Siena and Florence.

Siena is medieval gem, famous for its architecture, the Campo central piazza and the Palio horse race, which is held twice every summer. The Palio and the Campo piazza both featured in the James Bond Quantum of Solace film and as you sip a cappuccino in the piazza, it's hard not to slip into film-star mode as you watch the world go by. The unforgettable San Gimignano with its high medieval towers is arguably one of Italy's most suggestive skylines and well worth a day out and as an added bonus, you'll find some marvellous eateries.

Florence is the capital city of Tuscany and a romantic's paradise. It was the centre of the Italian Renaissance movement and its museums, galleries, palaces and churches house some of the world's greatest artistic treasures. The Piazza del Duomo is one of the most visited places in Europe. Piazza del Duomo is home to the magnificent Cathedral with Brunelleschi's Dome, Giotto's Bell Tower and the Baptistry, which are all part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the historical centre of Florence. The Uffizi, Bargello, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens and the Accademia have to been seen and once you tire of art and history, take a wander through the pretty streets and across the Ponte Vecchio bridge which spans the River Arno.

For gold aficionados, the international Royal Golf La Bagnaia just south of Siena features an 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., which harmoniously blends with the local landscape. You can marvel at the views over Siena as you ponder the power of your next stroke. If you prefer to spend some time on the tennis courts or play cowboy and go trekking on horseback, both can easily be arranged locally.

Property 1633097725 is 48 km from Florence Amerigo Vespucci International Airport, 89 km from Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport and 294 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. The villa is just 3 km from Poggibonsi, where all the necessary services can be easily found. San Gimignano is 14 km from the villa, Castellina in Chianti is 27 km, Siena is 34 km, Florence is 47 km.

The Property
The main part of Property 1633097725 dates back to the 14th century, when it was originally established as a watchtower for the Florentine army. The watchtower, the adjacent smaller house and the cottage have been recently renovated and can accommodate to 24 guests in twelve bedrooms (seven double bedrooms in the Main Villa, four double bedrooms in the Second Villa, one double bedroom in the Cottage) complete with en-suite bathroom.

Most of your days at Property 1633097725 will probably spent sunning yourself around the enormous swimming pool and splashing about in the water. The pool also has an easy access area with a shallow space for children. You will find a couple of handy outdoor showers nearby to rinse yourself off and then a fridge to keep some fruity cocktails chilled, ready to take back to your sunbed. The landscaped gardens are a joy to behold and designed for you to find yourself a shady corner with a good book as you enjoy the heady scent of the roses.

Main Villa:
The main house sleeps up to 14 guests in seven double bedrooms located on the first floor, each with its own spacious en-suite bathroom. The bedrooms all feature the finest linens and have superb views out over the surrounding countryside. Imagine waking yourself up to the cheery sound of birdsong as a glorious Tuscan sunshine streams into your room. A stunning travertine marble staircase connects the two floors.

The ground floor offers a large, country-style kitchen with all the modern conveniences to ensure that cooking for your friends and family is a pleasurable experience. Your meals can either be taken in the dining room, which seats up to 24 diners at a time, or enjoy the enticing perfume of wisteria as you delve into your evening meal under the gazebo. You might even be lucky enough to see some shooting stars while you eat! There is also a barbecue and a wood fired pizza oven for the more adventurous cooks amongst you.

Second Villa:
The second villa is also on two floors and offers four double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one of which is on the ground floor and ideal for a couple who'd rather not use the stairs. This second villa is completely independent if needs be as it features its own large kitchen and sitting room. In the villa, you will also find a room with double sofa bed, which is suitable for children. Please note that the maximum number of guests is 24. The double sofa bed is for children only.

Cottage:
The little cottage makes for the perfect romantic getaway and offers a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (which is suitable for disabled people), a kitchen and a dining room.
