Description

VILLA DEGLI AFFRESCHI - IMPRUNETA

20 Bedrooms

Location and Surrounding Area
Immersed in the peaceful Tuscan countryside and situated in the heart of Chianti, this exclusive property is ideally located to offer complete privacy to its guests and to explore the region’s cultural highlights and most spectacular natural wonders. Enjoying a privileged position between Florence and Siena, Property 10667 represents the ultimate location for day trips to the most beautiful towns in Tuscany and provides a unique opportunity to admire its iconic landscapes while soaking up the region’s incredibly rich historical and cultural heritage.

The villa is just a stone’s throw away from Florence, whose museums house the greatest artistic treasures in the world. The most important sites in Florence include the Duomo, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, and the Churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce. Wander the ancient streets of the city until you reach the Arno River, cross the Ponte Vecchio and experience the newest area of Florence, the Oltrarno. Where else can you stroll the same streets walked by Michelangelo, Leonardo and Botticelli, while savoring the world’s best gelato?

In just one hour by car, you can easily reach Siena, Italy’s loveliest medieval town, whose heart is represented by the magnificent Piazza del Campo, scene of the lively Palio horse race, which is held twice a year in July and August. The Campo is dominated by the Palazzo Pubblico and its Torre del Mangia, from which it is possible to admire the view of the town. Effectively a giant, open-air museum celebrating the Gothic, Siena boasts spiritual and secular monuments that have retained both their medieval forms and their exceptional art collections, providing plenty to marvel at.

The villa is also a one-hour drive from Lucca, also known as “the city of 100 churches”: hidden behind imposing Renaissance walls, its cobbled streets, delightful piazzas and shady promenades make it a perfect destination to explore on foot. In less than an hour and a half’s drive, you can also reach Pisa, exceptionally well-known for its famous Leaning Bell Tower. After having climbed all the steps up to the top of the tower to admire the breathtaking view of the town, continue your visit to other monuments in the marvelous Piazza dei Miracoli, such as the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Monumental Cemetery.

Property 10667 is 18 km from Florence Amerigo Vespucci International Airport and 78 km from Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport. Florence is 14 km from the villa, San Gimignano is 47 km, Siena is 67 km, Lucca is 81 km, Pisa is 82 km, Livorno is 86 km.

The Property
Surrounded by nature and immersed in a landscape of outstanding beauty characterized by gentle hills, Property 10667 provides the perfect retreat for those seeking complete privacy and pure relaxation in the heart of Tuscany. Surrounded by rolling green hills lined with cypresses and embraced by 30 acres of vineyards, olive groves, a forest and a lake, Property 10667 can accommodate up to 37 guests, offering 20 bedrooms (17 double bedrooms and 2 single rooms) spread over multiple buildings. The villa can also sleep 3 extra guests in 3 additional single beds.

During the XV century, the hamlet was owned by the Ghirlandaios: the most well-known Renaissance family of painters in whose workshop many apprentices, including Michelangelo, learned the fine art of painting. Being their summer residence, the hamlet was not only a place to reunite the family and to relax but it was also a location to entertain relations with the most prominent artists of Renaissance such as Raffaello, Pontormo and Botticelli. Within its walls, the villa has a chapel frescoed by Ridolfo Ghirlandaio.

The villa can accommodate 37 guests in 20 bedrooms (17 double bedrooms and 2 single rooms). However, on request, additional beds (up to 3 beds) can be added in some bedrooms. All of the bedrooms feature king-size beds, luxurious bed linen, stylish marble bathrooms with either a rain shower or bath tub, a walk-in wardrobe and a safe box. The accommodations are spread over multiple buildings on the estate: the Main Villa, the Farmhouse, the Old Shop, the Olive Press, the Olive Press' Dépendance, the Studio and the Limonaia.

Surrounded by rolling hills, the villa boasts two magnificent swimming pools and a spacious poolside area equipped with comfortable sun loungers inviting guests to unwind. Offering a peaceful atmosphere, this exceptional area beside the pool represents the perfect place for enjoying moments of relaxation in the company of a good book and a glass of prosecco. The largest pool can be heated on request at an extra cost. The villa also features a wellness area and a restaurant with its own vegetable garden. The wellness area features a sauna, a hydro-pool, a Turkish bath, a massage area, an emotional shower for relaxation techniques and a well-equipped gym.

The Main Villa:
The main villa is where the family once lived and hosted elegant events during the 15th century. It features five double bedrooms with king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms, including a panoramic, second-floor bedroom. On the ground floor you will find two living rooms, a dining room, and a modern kitchen. On the ground floor you will also find the first of the five bedrooms. The first floor houses three double bedrooms. On the second floor you will find the last bedroom. One of the five en-suite bathrooms features a bathtub.

The Farmhouse:
As the name states, this beautiful old building was once the heart of the agricultural center of the estate. Today it offers three double bedrooms and one single room on the first floor, and a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, living room and guest bathroom on the ground floor. The rooms are complete with en-suite bathrooms. The famous chapel frescoed by Ridolfo Ghirlandaio forms part of the farmhouse complex.

The Old Shop:
This wonderful exposition space was where the Ghirlandaio family exhibited their art and has now been converted into a delightful guest house. With accommodation all on one level, it features two double bedrooms, both with king-size bed and en-suite bathroom (one of which features a bathtub; the other bathroom features a shower), a spacious living/dining area, a modern kitchen and a guest bathroom. There are just four steps up to the bedrooms.

The Olive Press:
As the name implies, this charming building once pressed enormous quantities of the Ghirlandaio estate's famous DOP extra virgin olive oils. Today it offers three bedrooms: a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom; and a double bedroom and a single room sharing a bathroom. All bedrooms are located on the first floor. On the ground floor you will find a delightful living room, dining room, kitchen, and extra bathroom. Please note that the kitchen is not fully-equipped but only features fridge, microwave and ice machine.

Olive Press' Dépendance:
With accommodation all on one level, the Olive Press' dépendance measures about 20 square meters and features a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

The Studio:
The studio was probably the most important building on the estate for it was here that numerous painters practiced their art. This building offers an open-plan living/dining area, a kitchen and extra bathroom located on the ground floor. The first floor features a double bedroom and a single room which share the same bathroom. The second floor features two double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom.

Limonaia:
With accommodation all on one level, the Limonaia features a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a living area.
