Surrounded by one of the most untouched areas on the Amalfi Coast, Nerano is a landscape of rocky cliffs, ancient olive groves and intense natural beauty. Not far from Punta Campanella, Nerano is a tiny village built into the mountains overlooking a pretty little harbor below.

Despite its attractive setting, what brings most visitors to Nerano is the seaside hamlet of Marina del Cantone. A road leads from the village of Nerano down to Marina del Cantone, where you are greeted by brightly colored umbrellas lining the beach and the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea. The pebbly beach hugs the gentle curve of the quiet harbor, and the beachfront offers one lido after another where you can rent sun beds and umbrellas.

The beach is lined with restaurants offering outdoor terraces with lovely views of the harbor. While you are in Nerano, one of the local specialties to try is spaghetti con zucchine alla Nerano. Pasta prepared with zucchini and parmigiano is a traditional dish all over the Amalfi Coast, but in Nerano the dish takes on a richer and creamier flavor with the addition of caciocavallo or the Provolone del Monaco D.O.P cheese made exclusively on the Sorrento Peninsula.

The village of Sant’Agata Sui Due Golfi sits atop the crest of the Sorrento Peninsula with sea views over the gulfs of Naples and Salerno. Despite its proximity to several holiday havens, the village generates a tangibly different climate to nearby Sorrento, both meteorologically and culturally. Walking options are legion. Trails lead off in all directions and it won’t take long before you hit a coast. The food is equally legendary, even by Italian standards, with some wonderful agriturismi.

Sorrento is a town of lemons, high-pedigree hotels and plunging cliffs that cut through the historical center. Tourism has a long history here: it was a compulsory stop on the Grand Tour and interest in the town was first sparked by the poet Byron, who inspired a long line of literary geniuses to sample the Sorrentine air. Wander through Piazza Tasso and you will be exposed to one of Italy’s finest strolls, snaking past palatial hotels, marquetry shops and restaurants serving gnocchi finished off with a shot of ice-cold limoncello.

To the west and south-west of Sorrento is Massa Lubrense, and a wild stretch of coast that developers have left untouched. Massa Lubrense is home to hamlets and ancient look-out towers, a reminder of invasions over the centuries, surrounded by citrus and olive groves. It comprises a small-town center and several hamlets joined by an intricate latticework of paths and mule tracks. For those without a donkey, there is a good network of SITA buses, but this is excellent walking country with the two gulfs rarely out of sight.

Offering a tranquil atmosphere, the villa boasts an infinity pool and an exclusive poolside area with comfortable sun loungers and deckchairs inviting guests to sit back and unwind while enjoying the panorama. Offering a peaceful atmosphere, the outdoor area also features a spacious al fresco dining area complete with pizza oven, barbecue and wonderful views over the sea. The second terrace on the next level down is dedicated to al fresco dining and features a barbecue, a wood-burning pizza oven and a large table that can accommodate more than twenty guests. The dining area itself is on a patio covering sixty square meters with a pergola providing shade during sunny afternoons.
