Description

VILLA IL MONASTERO - BARBERINO TAVARNELLE

7 Bedrooms

Location and Surrounding Area
Immersed in the tranquil Tuscan countryside, this charming estate is ideally located to explore Tuscany’s cultural highlights and most spectacular natural wonders. Property 1651263802 is situated in the heart of Chianti, halfway between Florence and Siena, and along the course of the Pesa River, a small tributary of the Arno that is worth exploring on foot. Surrounded by a lush garden, the property is composed of three different buildings: the main house and two annexes.

The vineyards in this picturesque part of Tuscany produce the grapes used in namesake Chianti and Chianti Classico, world-famous red wines. The Chianti region is a landscape where you will encounter historic olive groves, honey-coloured stone farmhouses, dense forests, charming Romanesque churches, Renaissance villas and imposing stone castles built in the Middle Ages by Florentine and Sienese warlords. Chianti’s Northern area sits in the province of Florence and is a popular day trip from that city.

The villa is just a stone's throw away from Greve in Chianti, a gastronome’s paradise close to Panzano. Butchers around the town are famed for their beef, wild boar, cured pork and more. Surrounded by Chianti vineyards, Greve hosts the Chianti’s best-known grape harvest festival, the Expo del Chianti Classico: over a long weekend in September, there is guided outdoor tastings plus live music and other events. This is classic Chianti country: just like you have seen in pictures and Renaissance paintings.

The villa is also a few kilometres from Panzano, which overlooks the Conca d’Oro, a “Golden Bowl” of sunbaked, south-facing Sangiovese vines that produce some of the region’s most sought-after red wines. Panzano is also home to Chianti’s most famous butcher, Dario Cecchini. You can taste Dario’s meat cooked, too, at a trio of Cecchini-owned restaurants: Dario DOC, for informal lunch at communal tables, Solociccia, for hungry meat-lovers, and Officina Della Bistecca, for the very hungry carnivore.

In thirty-five minutes by car, you can reach the walled town of San Gimignano, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval villages. As you crest the nearby hills, the fourteen towers of the town rise like a medieval Manhattan. Today, not even the plague would deter the swarms of summer day trippers, lured by a palpable sense of history and the enchanting rural setting. The historic centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, and strolling through the streets will make you feel like you have stepped back in time.

The Property
Situated within the beautiful Tuscan landscape, Property 1651263802 offers the perfect home away from home, with charming décor and windows that make the most of the views across the endless rolling hills. Surrounded by greenery, this exceptional villa is ideal for families and groups of friends who want to enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside. Offering a serene atmosphere, Property 1651263802 can accommodate 12+2 guests in 6+1 bedrooms (6 double bedrooms + 1 twin room) spread over the main villa and two annexes.

Surrounded by rolling hills, the villa boasts a generous garden crowned by an exclusive pool with roman steps and a large, paved poolside area furnished with sun loungers inviting guests to unwind. The outdoor area boasts al fresco lounge areas where you can sit and admire the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Offering a calm atmosphere, the property boasts a wide choice of outdoor areas where you can relax with a book or take a siesta. Among these, you will find a charming riverside beach.

The riverside beach is a true oasis where guests can reconnect with nature, lulled by the sound of flowing water. Accessed from the villa, it offers a relaxation area, a dining table, and comfortable sun loungers. Located at the back of the villa are the loggias, where the mill’s water channels which were used to power the grain millstones can still be found today. The scent of cypress trees and the sound of the nearby river provide a picturesque backdrop that contributes to creating a magical atmosphere.

Main Villa (4 Double Bedrooms):
The entrance lounge, the dining room, and the kitchen on the first and main floor serve as the living area of the house and are also used as a refreshing space from the sun during hot August afternoons. Sink into one of the comfy armchairs or sofas in the lounge area and put your feet up after a long walk around Florence. When it is time to rustle up some dinner, you will find everything you need in the fully-equipped kitchen on the same floor. On the main floor, you will also find a convenient laundry room and a guest bathroom.

Within the main villa, on the second floor, you will find a bright living room where the central beam takes centre stage and a roaring fireplace that adds an extra special touch to the atmosphere. The villa exudes historic charm, with a distinctive style that is evocative of traditional Tuscany. Modern touches are carefully added throughout this home, to create the perfect balance. The main villa can sleep eight guests in four double bedrooms complete with en-suite bathroom, which are spread over three floors.

Cipressi:
Exuding a sophisticated design that incorporates hues of green, the Cipressi master bedroom is located on the second floor and overlooks the cypresses in the garden. This double room features an en-suite bathroom characterized by a travertine shower and a freestanding tub.

Il Susino:
Located on the second floor, this 40-sqm double bedroom boasts delicate pastel colours in shades of pink inspired by the plum tree that the room overlooks. The room features a spacious en-suite bathroom with glass-enclosed shower stall.

La Camera Antica:
In this 40-sqm double bedroom located on the first and main floor, the choice of "raw" parquet flooring made from selected bicentennial wooden planks gives the room undeniable elegance, enhanced by the presence of a magnificent crystal chandelier that centrally illuminates the en-suite bathroom, complete with glass-enclosed shower stall, where gold accents and travertine fixtures take centre stage.

Le Macine:
Located on the ground floor, this 40-sqm double bedroom has been created from what was once the villa's stable, as evidenced by the preserved mangers, which have been intentionally left intact. In addition, this suite has a direct view of the garden, a covered terrace, and a small outdoor seating area. The room features an en-suite bathroom with glass-enclosed shower stall. The suite is adjacent to the "Macine" room, where the millstones are carefully preserved and can be admired.

Dépendance #1 (1 Double Bedroom + 1 Twin Room)  Il Rosmarino:
Looking at the façade of the villa, Il Rosmarino is located on the left side, a few meters from the main house. This 60-sqm dépendance can sleep four guests in two bedrooms spread over two levels: a double bedroom located on the lower level and a twin room on a mezzanine level. On the lower level, the dépendance features a bathroom with shower. Please note that this dépendance is more suitable for a family with two children, as the twin room is on a mezzanine level and there is a single, shared bathroom.

Dépendance #2 (1 Double Bedroom)  Il Leccio:
Opposite the main house and converted from an ancient sawmill, this dépendance spans 60 square meters and directly overlooks the park through a paved patio. Inside, it consists of a living area with a fireplace, a kitchen with a historic marble sink, and a master bedroom with an open shower.
