Description

Property 10694 - Conca dei Marini - Amalfi Coast

4 Bedrooms - Pool with hot-tub

Location and Surrounding Area. The tiny fishing village of Conca dei Marini is a coastal gem nestled in between Amalfi and the Furore Fjord and has become one of the Amalfi Coastline's most exclusive retreats. Property 10694 is only 200 metres from Furore Fjord and with its private steps down to the sea plus its own small jetty, it makes an ideal holiday location for discovering the wonders of the Amalfi Coast by boat.

For a village with only a couple of hundred inhabitants, there is a lot to see. Conca dei Marini is perhaps most famous for its Emerald Cave, la Grotta dello Smeraldo. This 30 metre high, karst cave was discovered in 1932 by a local fisherman and is named after the shimmering green, interior light as sunlight filters through the turquoise waters of the underwater entrance. The cave can be reached either by boat or via a set of picturesque steps.

The Monastery of Santa Rosa of Lima is a former Dominican monastery built in the 17th century on a rocky promontory overlooking the whole Gulf of Salerno. The austere facade is in contrast with the richly decorated interior and it is here that the exquisitely sweet Santa Rosa sfogliatella cake was invented by the nuns in the 18th century.

Among the countless enchanting places to visit in the area, perhaps Ravello, Positano and Amalfi stand out for the first time visitor. Ravello, at 350 metres above sea level, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers both unforgettable architecture and scenic beauty. The 11th century Cathedral and Villa Cimbrone are magnificent and a summer music festival is held each in the year in the gardens of the 13th century Villa Rufolo. D.H. Lawrence wrote Lady Chatterley's Lover here and the town has been frequented over the years by the likes of Greta Garbo and Winston Churchill.

The delights of Positano and Amalfi have inspired artists, writers and lovers for centuries. The higgledy-piggledy, white-washed houses clustered up and down the winding steps and sophisticated shops and restaurants all combine to create an exceptionally chic atmosphere.

Naples international airport is only 70 km away, the island of Capri is half an hour by boat, the world famous archaeological site of Pompeii  is 40 km away and the timeless resort of Sorrento is 30 km away. Amalfi and Positano are a mere 4 km and 15 km along the breathtaking drive of the celebrated Amalfi Coast road and Ravello is just 10 km up the hill.

The Property. Villa Meraviglia is built into the cliff face above the water and offers spectacular views out across the Mediterranean. This magnificent property sleeps up to eight guests in four double bedrooms, three of which have sea views. There are four bathrooms, two sitting rooms and two kitchens. The interior has recently been redecorated and refurbished and now features hand-painted, majolica floors. Both sitting rooms have large-screen, high-definition TVs. Given that each floor contains two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen, the villa can be easily divided into two separate living spaces.

In addition to the stylish interiors, Property 10694 has three achingly beautiful terraces overlooking the sea plus a private salt-water swimming pool. Each terrace is furnished to fully enjoy the breathtaking views. The main terrace is equipped with a cooking area including a fridge, work surface, sink and modern barbecue for creating unforgettable, al fresco meals under the stars. Feel free to take your pick of organic produce from the vegetable garden and lemon trees to spice up your meals.

A set of romantic steps lead down from the villa to the sea via enchanting terraced gardens.  The salt-water swimming pool has a jacuzzi area, a shower and a marvellous little room carved into the rock, which contains a fridge and handy bar/food corner. If you prefer a swim in the sea, there are metal steps for easy access in and out of the water. The private jetty is perfect for taking boat trips up and down the Amalfi Coast.
